Are we to finish our prayers with in the name of Jesus?
No, we do not have to end our prayers in Jesus' name. That is something that we have a habit of doing, and that is a custom. The truth behind that custom is that we should always keep in mind that the reason that we are even able to come to God the Father in prayer is because of Whom the Lord Jesus Christ is and the merits of His Cross work at Calvary. So although it is not necessary to end every prayer in Jesus' name, when I do it (I only do it when I pray publicly and not when I am praying privately to God), I do it to acknowledge and to remind the hearers that the privilege that we get to even pray to God today is because of who we are in Christ. So it is simply a gesture of honour and respect to the Lord.
So no, you do not have to end your prayers in the name of Jesus, but my suggestion would be that if you are praying to God in the presence of others, then mentioning the name of Jesus can bring more honour and glory to His name in the eyes of others!
Ephesians 5:20
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Philippians 2:10-11
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow , of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Hopefully this helps...Maranatha!
