“I thought the Heirs of God article was dead-on.
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling
of God in Christ Jesus. [Philippians 3:14 KJB]
If the view
that there is no difference between the inheritance and the reward is correct,
then statements like these of Paul become nonsensical. Why strive if there's no
reward to gain or suffer loss of?
If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss:
but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. [1 Corinthians 3:15 KJB]
In its context,
this is not presented as a hypothetical situation. as in "if you could
suffer loss of reward, this is what would happen.""Suffer loss"
is clearly presented as a reality that some will face.”

“Thank you so
much for writing this paper! I understood what I had been save FROM; now I more
clearly understand what I have been save FOR. May God richly bless you for your
insight and clarity of writing. Hope we will hear more from you Matt W
Stutzman!”

“Approving
things that are excellent...well done! The body of Christ needs to understand
this doctrine, for sure, and I'll be printing it and sharing it as I'm able
(looking for open doors). For any brethren that are interested in more
"sonship" doctrine, Bro. Mike McDaniel in TX has a series of studies
on the web: http://www.graceage.org/teaching.html”

“This is an
outstanding paper...extremely well written and researched on all points. The
author develops each theme with "rightly divided" scriptural
references which guide the reader to some very obvious and compelling
conclusions.
I would highly
encourage all Grace Believers to invest the time to read this paper. The fact
that our ongoing sanctification process by properly understanding and
"suffering" for the doctrine which applies to The body of Christ is
what will show us "approved" and qualified to "rule and
reign" with Christ is undeniable. This in my opinion is a teaching that is
unfortunately, not stressed enough from the pulpits of most Grace believing
churches.”

ReplyDeleteAmen! I sat on the pews of churches for years asking "what now?" and finally, after being delivered from denominational bondage, I can find out what that is!

I am so thankful for this paper! After studying the Bible rightly divided for about 5 years (takes a long time to "unlearn" what I was taught by wrong division!) I have just now started to study Sonship Edification. How exciting! I've been using the teaching videos of Pastor Michael McDaniel found here... http://www.youtube.com/user/MillenniumBible2001/videos?flow=grid&view=0&sort=da
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing both his YouTube ministry and this blog has been to me, I look forward to learning much more from both of you!
This paper is good introduction but an excellent study on sonship edification can be located online by Mike McDaniels at graceage.org or on Youtube at MillenniumBible2001. Also Triangle Bible Church at www.trianglebiblechurch.org has more detailed studies on our purpose on the body of Christ.
ReplyDeleteSanctification is a done deal when we trust that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again from the dead.
ReplyDeleteWe are justified *through* sanctification (being placed into Christ).
The Apostle Paul says in 2 Thessalonians 2:13 "God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth"
We belief the truth (the gospel) and get placed into Christ, which sanctifies (sets us apart to God), and justifies us (makes us the righteousness of God).
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption - 1 Corinthians 1:30
Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light - Colossians 1:12
We didn't make ourselves meet (fit) for God's inheritance in light, God did, by joining us to the Lord Jesus Christ, separating us from our sinful flesh and joining us to his Son's spotless, perfect, glorified, spiritual body.
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power - Colossians 2:10
In light of that, bearing in mind our justified, sanctified, glorified position in Christ, we are exhorted to walk worthy of our perfect and complete status in Christ.
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; - Colossians 1:10
That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. - 1 Thessalonians 2:12

Glad you were finally able to get it. That's the important thing. I'll look into the matter and have some others test it, too. I'm not sure what could be the issue.
DeleteIn any case, may you be enriched and edified as you consider this most important doctrine.
