Growing in the Lord...

How would a saved person "grow in the doctrine" if they don't have a bible to read. How do they grow to receive their reward?  ...my question comes from a grace message I've heard: "Is God intervening today?"

1 Corinthians 3:12-15
Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;  Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.  If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.  If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

My first question would be how did this person, that does not have a bible, get saved in the first place? They would have had to hear God's word in order to trust Christ.

Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

So God says that in order to trust Christ, they must first hear his word. And to hear his word, he must have sent them a preacher...

Romans 10:13-15
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?  And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

So whether through TV, the radio, internet, or in person, a person would be able to hear the gospel and get saved.

Now if the will of God is that that person gets saved and come unto a knowledge of the truth…

1 Timothy 2:4
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

…then don't you think that God would also give his word for them to grow?

The answer is...YES!

That same person who shared the gospel with them to get saved would also tell them that they need to have God's Word to grow! So they would tell them to get a copy of the bible, or send them one, etc. Because anybody who is sharing the gospel also knows that that newly saved person needs a bible to grow!

So don't worry, God is powerful and he would never let anyone who desires to grow in Christ not have the means (bible, church, etc.) to do so!

Hopefully this helps!
