Who do you think the Two
Witnesses are in Revelation?
Revelation 11:3
And I will give power unto my two witnesses,
and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in
sackcloth.
I believe that the two
witnesses will be Moses and Elijah for the following reasons. God promised
Israel that both Moses and Elijah would come before the wrath and the earthly
kingdom
Deuteronomy 18:15-18
The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee [Israel] a Prophet from the midst of
thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; According to
all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the
assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither
let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. And the LORD said unto me, They have well
spoken that which they have spoken. I [the LORD] will raise them up a
Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee [Moses], and will put my
words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
Acts 3:22
For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up
unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto
you.
Acts 7:37
This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A
prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto
me; him shall ye hear.
Malachi 4:5
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful
day of the LORD:
That Prophet like Moses was the Lord Jesus, and John the Baptist was like Elijah during the Lord's first coming
Luke 1:13, 17
But the angel said unto him, Fear not,
Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a
son, and thou shalt call his
name John.
And he shall go before him in the spirit and
power of Elias, to turn the hearts
of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just;
to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
John 1:21, 25
And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias?
And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.
And they asked him, and said unto him, Why
baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that
prophet?
Matthew 17:10-13
10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why
then say the scribes that Elias must first come? And Jesus answered and said
unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. But I say unto
you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto
him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
Also, Moses and Elijah
represent the Law (Moses) and the Prophets (Elijah) to Israel. Moses and Elijah
were the 2 who came to the Lord on the Mt of Transfiguration in…
Matthew 17:3
And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses
and Elias talking with him.
The two witnesses do the
same miracles that Moses and Elijah did in the Old Testament…
Revelation 11:6
These have power to shut heaven, that it rain
not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to
blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
God hid Moses' body in
order to resurrect him later (a type of the Law being in force again in the
kingdom)...
Deuteronomy 34:5-6
So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in
the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD. And he buried him in a valley in the land of
Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.
Jude 9
Yet Michael the archangel, when contending
with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him
a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
Enoch is before Israel came on the scene—he is a type of us, the Church, the Body
of Christ. We were in the mind of God as a secret/Mystery before he came up with Israel.
Romans 16:25
Now to him that is of power to stablish you
according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the
revelation of the mystery, which was
kept secret since the world began,
1 Corinthians 2:7
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
Ephesians 3:9
And to make all men see what is the fellowship
of the mystery, which from the beginning of the
world hath been hid in God,
who created all things by Jesus Christ:
Colossians 1:26
Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
Plus, he was Raptured
out before the wrath of the flood, like we will before the wrath of the fire!
Both Elijah and Moses
were Israelites and as part of that nation (unlike Enoch), are perfect
witnesses to the Jews who will be going through the Tribulation period!
Hopefully this
helps...Maranatha!
