A study you can understand

How can I teach the Bible so as to help someone understand?

First of all, a person must have a clear testimony of trusting Christ’s shed blood for their sins!  Then, to help them learn to rightly divide the scriptures is to show them the actual verse from scripture that states God's standard for studying the bible.

2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

It is the only verse in the bible (the King James Version) that tells us to study the bible and how to do it. When people continue to spiritualize passages written not to them, but to Israel—even after you show them right division—Paul says that it's their pride, and that they know nothing.

1 Timothy 1:7; 6:3-4
Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;  He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

Peter says that they do it to their own destruction.

2 Peter 3:15-16
And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;   As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

But, you show them passages in the scriptures that actually contradict each other, and can only be answered (understood) thru right division. You can use passages on forgiveness written to Israel, and compare it what God wrote to us thru our Apostle Paul in his epistles.

Matthew 6:14-15
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:   But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Ephesians 4: 32
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Explain to them that God forgave an Israelite if they forgave others.  But today, He gives us forgiveness whether or not we forgive others!

Show them passages on physical healing for Israel, and compare it to what Paul wrote to us in his epistles.

James 5:14-15
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:   And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

2 Corinthians 4:16
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

1 Timothy 5:23
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

2 Timothy 4:20
Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.

Explain to them that God promised Israel physical healing as a sign of their physical kingdom.  However today, He has not promised the Body of Christ physical healing.  Rather, something better!  A hope to one day have a glorified, spiritual body like our Lord Jesus.

Philippians 3:21
Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Ask them to show you where Peter uses the shed blood as the basis of salvation in Acts. They won't find it!  Although, that is what saves us today, right?

But the biggest issue of where to have someone see right division, is their own heart. Unless they have a soft heart towards the Word of God, and NOT their religion or own interpretation, they will not see it.

The fact that they claim that because something supposedly worked for them from God's Word to Israel, and that it does not matter if it does not work for others, is not scriptural!!  God is no respecter of persons!  If His promise works for one, it must work for all, and without fail...100% of the time! So when someone says that type of stuff, Paul says that they are wise in their own conceits

Your job is to grow in this "Mystery of Christ" and share it with others, whether they believe it or not.

Colossians 4:2-4
Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;   Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:  That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.

Hopefully this helps!
