KJV vs NKJV

I had just bought a New King James bible and then heard you comment that that version is not a good translation.  What would be the very best bible to buy if I have trouble understanding the King James bible?

If you can understand the New King James, you might as well get a King James bible, for the following reasons:

·       There is very little difference in the language and words between the NKJV and the KJB.  Therefore if you are going to try using the NKJV, you might as well use the KJB because they are very close.

·       The KJB will teach you the difference of the so-called "Old English" words that it uses when you study it! As you use it, you will learn that you can compare different verses with certain words with other verses with the same word, and the Lord will bless you with great understanding and will actually increase your vocabulary and IQ! (You can get a nice KJB concordance like the Strong's, and a good KJB Bible dictionary to help you track down the words and get the definitions of them.  And, of course, these references are on the internet and very easy to use and assist you in your study.)

·       Last, but certainly not least, the KJB is the only version of the bible on earth for us English speaking people that is without error (I have researched them and checked them all out over the years)! All of the other versions have errors in them, including the NKJV.  This is because they do not use the same underlying text as the KJB, aka, the Authorized Version/Textus Receptus! And since the bible is supposed to be the inerrant Word of God, and therefore perfect, why would anyone desire and choose a version with errors in it?!

All the other English versions outside of the KJB are used by the Enemy to do what the Psalmist warned…

Psalm 62:4
They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.

And, the NKJV does this by changing the doctrine about the Lord's Deity and work on the Cross by lessening it through the verses! For example, compare the following verses in both the KJB and your NKJV.

In the King James, the Lord is referred to the Son of God, which deals with His deity, but in the NKJV, He is lowered down to the status of being a servant, which is lesser!

Acts 3:26 KJV
Unto you first God, having raised up his son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

Psalm 62:4
They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.

The issue in these verses has to do with His Deity, yet the NKJV takes away from it.  Now, take the time now to look at them in the NKJV!

Another example, the KJB exalts the Lord's faith in the Father's will by stating...

Romans 3:22
Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified .

Galatians 2:20 KJV
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live ; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians 3:22
But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Philemon 3:9
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Now check all these verses in your NKJV and see how they take away from 'his faith!' There is a huge difference between His perfect faith and our imperfect faith!

So in conclusion, the KJB is the only English version without error and is therefore obviously more profitable to your spiritual growth than ANY other version, including the NKJV.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect [spiritually mature], throughly furnished unto all good works.

Here is a wonderful helpful website to research this issue out for yourself further...if you click on it there is an entire section on the problem with the NKJV!   http://www.av1611.org/kjv/fight.html

Hopefully this helps

  3. I am curious why every site I go to shows differences between Bible translation X and the King James Bible to be an error within Bible X. Could it be the King James Bible is the one that isn't 100% correct? Is our generation the only one that would try to skew the Bible to our way of thinking, to support our beliefs? The assumption the King James Bible is 100% correct and "the word of God" directly is a fallacy...the King James Bible, like many of today's translations, is a a translation from the original texts and is prone to the errors and biases of the day.

I'm not saying the King James Bible isn't a great Bible, I'm saying the logic everyone uses (e.g. the KJV is perfect and everything else is imperfect) is false logic...I'd like to hear a real argument where someone smart on this subject compares numerous translations to the original Textus Receptus or whatever is considered by scholars to be the most accurate source document.

  4. Craig, thank you for your comment.

There are many arguments out there...both pro and con. Ultimately, it does boil down to a matter of faith and whether your question is an honest question, or simply a challenge.

Let me encourage you to put in the leg work and search the matter out for yourself. But do it with prayer and discernment. There are many hateful websites, but no surprise as Satan is the one that is leading this attack by saying: "Yea, hath God said?"

For starters, may I suggest you do a search on this site for "King James" and read and consider the postings.

Also, for your consideration may I suggest the following...

    And, one more suggestion...
Do a search on Youtube.com for "What's the big deal about the KJV?"
...There are 5 episodes that are short and very well done. One note of caution regarding these videos is, Sam Gipp is a KJV Onliest. Pastor Ron Knight and other grace teachers that (1) acknowledge the distinct and unique apostleship of Paul, (2) rightly divide the scriptures, and (3) hold the King James Bible as the perfectly preserved Majority Text in English for English-speaking people, they are NOT KJV Onliests. While they only use the KJV, they do not insist that others do.

"Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind." Romans 14:5 KJB

Any preacher or religious denomination that seeks to dominate a person's faith is in violation of scripture...

    2 Corinthians 1:24
NOT for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.

    Grace to you,
    Webmaster

    1. I am only anonymous because the choices. I am Josh Kelly, a born-again follower of Jesus Christ DOBA November 18th 1993/ My reply was just saying you spoke well in your response. Better than most dogmatic or self-righteous KJV only'ers... I have over the last 20 years studied from many translations, and also have had certain "though shalt's" crammed into my head that only brought confusion from man's tradition.
Saying that. My 1st Four years were an imersion into God's Word KJV ~with prayer and worship (mostly closet-style) as I was so on fire, I annoyed many people with my ballooned zeal and genuine love for Jesus. I had been forgiven much, therefore I loved MUCH!
We hardly realize as so many people debate versions, there is a soul just needing *1 Promise of God's Word to be saved in Christ. And while so many debate and either are KJV only or have a quazillion versions. Most in many restricted Nations of God's word would be fully content with a print of only one of the four Gospel Accounts.. People hand-write as much as they can before passing it along (when they have a bible) to the next village or underground church.
God always makes a way where there seems to be no way! Sadly in America, with the most abundant access to God's Word for Free if need be.. As a Nation we are in whole ignorant of His Word. I know right now to store up as much as God allows of His word! For it will be restricted here soon, or have some USA-version fully demonizing what so many died to get into our language.
And the one thing (out of a simple pursuit of learning Russian) that holds water. Is when faced with KJV only folk, they can not fully and legitibly answer my questions about words Russian language does not have? And extra words they do? Big smiles... For I am fortunate enough to have an Authorized KJV but it is a dual language parallel with Russian. It has given me more respect for God's Word in the language of the people needed to still be spread....
So, once again ~thank you for your correct and biblically sound answer.... See ya in Glory. ur brother Josh
