You aren’t yours anymore

Why does man have the free will to choose salvation but not the free will to set it aside/loose it?  That seems inconsistent to me.  Would that not be a case where God seemingly blocks man's will?

You can do nothing to lose your salvation—even if you wanted to!

The moment that you trust Christ, you become a member of his body.

Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Here we see that when you first trust him, ye are sealed by God the Father with the Holy Spirit!

1 Corinthians 12:12-13
For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Why did he do that?

You were bought with a price, the precious blood of his Son. And God forbid that his Son does not possess what's rightfully his!

1 Corinthians 6:20
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Acts 20:28
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

The reason that you can't choose to lose it is because you don't belong to you anymore...you belong to him!

Colossians 1:16
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

God formed the church the body of Christ to fill those positions for Christ in the heavens, and that is what he will do with us.

By the way, it is only down here in our flesh that we would trust Christ and then change our mind. Once we get out of these fleshly, sinful, carnal, vile bodies, and get our new glorified bodies, we will understand how foolish we were to change our minds!
But whether we do change our minds or not during this life, it makes no matter to God.  God promised his Son some people to possess the heavens and he will do it!

Titus 1:1-3
Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

Ephesians 1:14
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

2 Timothy 2:11-13
It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

Just remember, we need to take the focus off ourselves and realize what God created us for.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 1:9-12
Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

It's all about him! Amen.

Hopefully this helps...Maranatha!
