Heavenly place for women

My question is regarding the reward of our inheritance.  It's my understanding so far that we will get positions of authority over heavenly principalities etc.  But, in the scriptures I don't recall God ever giving women authority to rule over anything (except Deborah but that was because of Israel's hard heart wasn't it?), so why would we rule over anything in the heavenly places?

That is a great question!  Here is what I see from scripture:

When it came to receiving an inheritance in the bible, it almost always went to the males, yet the females under their authority shared the benefits and blessings of it.  But, there were times that it went to the females.

Numbers 26:33; 27:1-8
And Zelophehad the son of Hepher had no sons, but daughters: and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah. And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons. Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father. And Moses brought their cause before the LORD. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them. And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.

Here we see that if there were no males to inherit the possession then God gave it to the daughters. So females did have ownership as well.

As far as authority in a kingdom, the women/queens had great authority given to them by the king—a male still always had to be at the top.

1 Kings 2:19
Bathsheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king's mother; and she sat on his right hand.

Here we see that Solomon's mother had great authority in his kingdom. To sit on a king's right hand was the place of privilege/authority!

Esther 5:3; 7:2
Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.

And the king said again unto Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition, queen Esther? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? and it shall be performed, even to the half of the kingdom.

Even though she would get half the kingdom...the male king still held top authority!

Mark 6:22-23
And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee. And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.

Again, kings did give certain worthy women great authority in their kingdoms.

So what about in our heavenly inheritance in regard to women?

Well our Apostle Paul said that "in Christ," a term referring to how God see us—there is neither Jew nor gentile, bond nor free, male or female when it comes to our blessings in the heavenly places!

Ephesians 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

We are all blessed with all spiritual blessings; we are all equally blessed and have equal access to His grace by faith! Therefore, after our resurrection/rapture our gender won't matter. All that will matter and determine our rulership will be our faithfulness to his word to us [as given to us through our apostle Paul]!

Look at what our Lord said in Luke…

Luke 20:35-36
But they [males and females] which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world [authority in his kingdom], and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

Here we see that when men came to tempt the Lord about the resurrected people in the earthly kingdom (remember that the rapture is a resurrection, as well, for the body), the Lord says that the sex or gender of the person will no longer be an issue.

Gender is something that matters now in this world for pro-creation (and male/female also is a type of Christ and the church in this dispensation of grace), but after our resurrection/rapture the gender of the person won't matter!

All that will matter then, is if that person was faithful to the commands that God gave them through Paul! Remember, women have certain specific commands that they will be judged on at the judgment seat of Christ and so do men!

So in conclusion, why would women rule over anything in the heavenly places, especially because God does not normally give them much authority here on the earth?

Well because once the resurrection/rapture happens, women will no longer be needed to be that type of the Body of Christ—to complement the males who are the ‘head’. Also, women will no longer be needed to give birth to children. Also, faithful women will be exalted by our Lord the King to positions of rank/authority based on their humble submission to his word while here on earth, just like we saw in the above verses with the kings in the Old Testament.

Faithful sisters, such as yourself, will not be/think/act or respond like the weaker vessels now called females, here on earth.  But, up there you and the males also, will all have the perfect mind of our Lord Jesus Christ and therefore will be well qualified to rule up there because we will not have our male/female roles like we do today!

Hopefully this helps
