Some
people say, “Oh Lord, give me
faith.” But there is only one way you
can have faith in the eyes of Almighty God:
by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
That
hearing has to do with…
Matthew 11:15
He that hath ears to
hear, let him hear.
...that is, spiritually hearing. Read it; hear it; believe it. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing, not by extrabiblical books; not by
what your friend said or what your mom or dad said, or even what the preacher
said; but hearing by the word of God!
It’s
not about feelings. Your feelings may
catch up to the truth; but when your feelings trump the truth of the
scriptures, set your feelings aside.
Have your feelings ever been wrong?
They are untrustworthy and they fluctuate; but not the scriptures.
Psalm 119:89
For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.
The
Holy Writ, the handwriting of Almighty God:
that is what you can trust!
Psalm 119:105
Thy word is a lamp unto
my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 138:2b
…for thou
hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
So then, how does one get faith?
Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
