That sounds familiar!

The English language (as well as other languages) has been full of phrases and proverbs from the Bible. There are popular phrases that sound like they come scripture but in actuality do not; such as…

"Cleanliness is next to godliness”
"God helps those who help themselves.” (This one is from Poor Richards Almanac.)

However, below is a listing of a few oft-used phrases which do come from Holy Scripture.
