Crown of thorns

What is the symbolism of the crown of thorns placed on Christ’s head before his crucifixion?

The thorns typified Christ dying for Adam’s sins.  When Adam sinned, he brought thorns into the creation.  God did not create roses with thorns.  But when God cursed the ground for man’s sake…

Genesis 3:17-18

And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

…thorns, thistles and weeds grew up.  So now when roses grow, though they are beautiful (typifying humanity), they also grow with prickly thorns.  Thorns symbolize something irritating that is constantly getting under your skin.
