Baptism in religion today is tantamount to
circumcision in the Jew's religion in time past.
Whether now or then, both are acts of legalism. Back
then a Jew was required by law to perform such an act. But, today, in the
dispensation of grace we are NOT under law to perform, nor should we!
Since Paul is the apostle to the gentiles (nations),
it is often asked (and required) in Christendom...
Why
did Paul circumcise Timothy?
...behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the
son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a
Greek: Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and
Iconium. Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised
him... [Acts 16:1-3 KJB]
Why
did Paul baptize?
And I baptized also the household of Stephanas:
[1 Corinthians 1:16 KJB]
Is this a dilemma for the Christian? No, not at all!
When we rightly divide the scriptures and consider
(not reject nor resist)
and receive
what Paul tells us, confusion is dispelled completely.
Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all
things. [2 Timothy 2:7 KJB]
